Public Aids

Eligibility: Following residents of Central Province

  • Elders whose monthly income is lower than Rs. 3000/= and do not receive any protection from their children/relatives
  • Women whose monthly income is lower than Rs. 3000/=  and is subjected to destitution with children because of the sudden death of the husband
  • Women whose monthly income is lower than Rs. 3000/=  and is subjected to destitution with children because of the desertion of the husband
  • People whose monthly income is lower than Rs. 3000/= and are subjected to disabilities

Documents to be produced in order to receive aids

  •  Request letter of the applicant
  • With the certification of Grama Niladhari

Should be produced to the Divisional Secretary of the residing area.  Money could be received from the nearest post office after getting the provincial social welfare officer's recommendation and divisional Secretary's approval.

Amount receivable:  A minimum of Rs. 250.00 to a maximum of Rs. 500.00. This will be decided according to the number of members in the family.

 


 

Disease aids

Eligibility:  Central provincial residents who are suffering with the following diseases and whose monthly income is under Rs. 3000/=

  • Tuberculosis
  • Leprosy
  • Cancer
  • Thalassemia
  • Kidney Disease

 Documents to be produced in order to receive aids

  • Request letter of the applicant
  • Medical report certifying the decease issued by a specialized doctor
  • Special medical report issued to the hospitals by the department of social welfare, probation and child care services for the patients with thalassemia and kidney deceases
  • Certification of Grama Niladari

 Should be produced to the social welfare officer of the divisional secretariat of the residing area. Money could be received monthly from the nearest post office till the decease is being cured after receiving the approval of the divisional secretary.

Amount receivable: A minimum of Rs.450 to a maximum of Rs. 700. This will be decided according to the number of members in the family.

 


 

Rehabilitation Aids

 Eligibility: Central Province residents whose monthly income is under Rs. 3000

  • Charity aid receivers
  • People with disabilities

Documents to be produced in order to receive aids

  • Request letter of the applicant 
  • Certification of Grama Niladari
  • Estimate of the self-employment 

Should be produced to the social welfare officer of the divisional secretariat of the residing area. Money will be released to the Divisional Secretary after receiving the approval of the commissioner, Department of Social Welfare, Probation and Child Care Services with the recommendations of the provincial social welfare officer and the divisional Secretary

 Amount receivable: A maximum of Rs.10,000.00 

 


 

Equipment for the Disabled

  • Wheel Chairs
  • Clutches
  • Crutches
  • Tricycles
  • Commode chairs
  • Artificial legs and arms
  • Walking frames
  • Hearing aids
  • White Canes
  • Lenses
  • Spectacles
  • Other special equipment

 Eligibility: Residents of the Central Province who are       

  • disabled by birth or afterwards
  • or whose monthly income is lower than Rs.3000

Documents to be produced in order to receive aids

  • Request letter of the applicant
  • Certification of Grama Niladari
  • Medical Report issued by a specialist (Essential for Spectacles, contact lenses, hearing aids)

Equipment will be issued to the Divisional Secretary after receiving the approval of the commissioner, Department of Social Welfare, Probation and Child Care Services with the recommendations of the provincial social welfare officer and the divisional Secretary.

 


 

Other Aids

Payments of assistance

This is a monthly assistance for the daily food needs of the residents in the Children's Homes, Elder's homes and in homes for the disabled situated in central province and is under the supervision of the department.

Maintenance aids

This is for the vital maintenance, buying of equipment, etc of the elder's homes, Children's Homes and homes for the disabled situated in Central Province and are under the supervision of the department. 50% from the estimated cost will be given for maintenance work and the other 50% should be borne by the relevant board of management. When the board of management is incapable of bearing this 50%, total estimated amount could be paid with the approval of the Ministry Secretary. Also when purchasing equipment, the maximum amount could be paid is Rs. 75,000.00.

Disabled Citizens

disabled citizens We assist disabled persons with aid equipment, self-employment training & opportunities and financial and infrastructure facilities

Probation & Child Care

probation child care The Dept. assists, educates and takes care of orphaned, deserted, helpless and abused children and maintain orphanages
